Application Programming Interface (API)

Application Programming Interface (API) is a software intermediary that permits two applications to converse with one another.

With APIs, an application can access information from outside sources (application/sites), thus permitting a new degree of connectivity and data sharing.

APIs can be added, like building blocks, to provide more capabilities to the client.

APIs present a mutually advantageous answer for Bank and Clients. Banks and clients that do not invest now will pay high opportunity costs and see an erosion in their competitiveness.

This enables the user to send and receive payments and retrieve information on their Balances and Transaction History. These allow accurate account reconciliation and a better understanding of their cash position in real-time.

UOB leverages industry-recognised message formats such as JSON and open network protocols, as well as security techniques that provide reliable data transmissions. These align with UOB’s internal security policies to protect privacy and data integrity while providing strong operational controls.
